5203 |a"Stock thinning of high-density oyster beds and oyster relocation on barren grounds were conducted in the Dunk River estuary in 1975 and 1976. The impact of these projects on oyster quality and standing value was studied during the two-year period following the operations. Stock thinning resulted in inconsistent quality improvements and increased the oyster standing values by percentages ranging from 12.9 to 24.5 during the first year following the operation. Oyster relocation produced important quality improvements and increased the oyster standing values by percentages ranging from 38.2 to 65.7 during the first year following the operation. Smaller quality improvements and value increases were recorded during the second year after relocation"--Abstract, page iv.
