"Tests are necessary to prove that all imported and domestic fish products meet set bacteriological guidelines. Completion of these tests results in a delay to the importer or processor before he can sell the product. The rapid methyl red test was found to provide accurate results within a shortened time frame. This allows the importer or producer to move his products faster and to save money both for himself and the consumer. In the testing facility less bacteriological media is used and less staff time is required to complete the tests"--Abstract, page iv.
