"Results are presented for a survey on the characteristics of bottomfishing in the British Columbia recreational fishery and the differences in angler motivation between salmon fishing and bottomfishing. The survey was conducted at the 1984 Vancouver Boat and Sportsman's Show and 70% (n=932) of the respondents were from the Greater Vancouver area. A disproportionate number of males and highly committed anglers were included, in comparison with the overall B.C. angler population. Differences in personal and fishing characteristics, catch habits, resource preferences and fishing motivations were compared by grouping the respondents according to level of commitment to saltwater fishing, age and principal type of fishing. …"--Abstract, page iv.
