A survey of dissolved oxygen and other water quality characteristics of the lower Fraser River 1975-1981 / by J.G. Malick, I.K. Birtwell and M.B. Flynn. : Fs97-4/1824E-PDF
"During the spring of 1975, 1976, 1980 and 1981, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, conductivity and oxidation-reduction potential were measured at 45 sites and selected depths in the lower Fraser River downstream of New Westminster. The sampling periods were chosen to coincide with the period of downstream migration and estuarine rearing phase in the life cycle of Pacific salmon and with the onset of freshet conditions. … Aside from the depressions of dissolved oxygen in backwater areas, dissolved oxygen levels in major river channels were at levels which would generally not be stressful to sensitive fish species such as juvenile salmonids. However, understanding the effects of reduced levels of dissolved oxygen together with contaminants and other factors in the lower Fraser River is an important requirement for the successful protection and management of aquatic organisms"--Abstract, page ix.
