"This analysis outlines the inflow of shelter users in the emergency shelter system in Canada between 2018 and 2022. Inflow is the rate at which people are entering into the shelter system for the first time. This analysis provides insight into how inflow influenced trends of shelter use over this period. It can help measure progress in the goal of reducing homelessness and provide insights on how to work upstream to prevent it. The analysis also examines chronic homelessness among newly and previously identified shelter users, as well as differences in stay length"--Introduction, page [1].
