Suitability of small fish species for monitoring the effects of pulp mill effluent on fish populations : Athabasca River, 1994 and 1995 / prepared for the Northern River Basins Study under projects 2353-D1... : R71-49/3-100E-PDF

"As part of the "Contaminants" component of the Northern River Basins Study (NRBS), effort was initiated to study the effects of pulp and paper effluents on the Athabasca River. One of the elements of the study included monitoring the effects of pulp mill effluent on resident fish populations of the Upper Athabasca River. Due to concerns regarding the extensive mobility of many larger fish species (i.e. beyond exposure areas), the emphasis of the project was to evaluate the suitability of small fish species as "sentinels" for monitoring effluent related effects in river environments"--Report summary.
