"For the purpose of determining the life-history and factors influencing the rate of growth and survival of the quahaugs in the Malpeque bay area, the present investigation (sponsored by the Fisheries Research Board of Canada) was started in 1938. It was undertaken by the writer on the suggestion of Dr. A.W.H. Needler, in charge of oyster culture at the P.E.I. Biological Station, where the main part of the work has been done"--Page 2.
