"The goal of this study was therefore to determine, under milder conditions, whether the Cold Buster™ can enhance cold resistance in humans and whether it does so via alterations in heat production (M) or heat losses. This was accomplished by determining not only core and mean skin temperatures, but also by performing a full heat balance analysis, by calculating rates of energy substrate oxidation and by analyzing levels of various plasma substrates and hormones, as indices of energy substrate mobilization"--Background, page 7.
