Quantifying non-point and point nutrient sources in the Carrot and Red Deer River watersheds / submitted to : Joanne Sketchell. : En36-523/180E-PDF

"The two watersheds have experienced different levels of development. The Red Deer River watershed contains more urban development, whereas the Carrot River watershed is dominated by forested areas and farmland. The two watersheds also differ in terms of data availability. The Red Deer River watershed contains multiple monitoring stations, both along the river mainstem and at the mouths of several tributaries. Seasonal samples for nutrients and other water quality parameters have been collected consistently from the terminal station positioned near the river mouth at Bindloss, with additional sampling having been done at the other stations. In contrast, the Carrot River watershed contains only one sampling station on the river mainstem, with several other sampling stations situated on three tributaries in the upper watershed. Only the terminal station at Turnberry has been consistently sampled seasonally for nutrients"--Introduction, page 1.
