"A total eclipse of the sun, of particular interest to the people of Canada, will occur on July 10, 1972. On that day, persons living along a diagonal path across the country extending from the Mackenzie River delta to Nova Scotia will observe the moon slowly blocking the solar beam until a short period of mid-day darkness occurs. The moon, being a relatively small celestial body, will bring about a total obscuration of the sun along a narrow 100 mile wide strip called the "path of totality""--Page [1].
