"These nine methods form the core of some two dozen procedures which will eventually be released by the Pacific Oceanographic Group. Methods for nitrate and ammonia will follow shortly and it is hoped to extend the work to cover most of the metals such as iron, manganese, copper, zinc and molybdenum, known to be essential to the enzyme systems of marine life"--Preface to collected standard methods, page [3].
