"In 1995, the stock assessments of groundfish and pelagic fish and invertebrate species were reviewed regionally. As such, this report documents the review process followed in the Gulf Region including the consultations with industry and the peer review process. The technical details of the stock assessmentsfor groundfish (cod in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, witch flounder in 4RST, American plaice, winter flounder, white hake and dogfish in 4T), herring in 4T, and the key invertebrates in 4T (snow crab, lobster and rock crab) are described. A regional overview describing the general stock trends and an environmental summary describing climatic conditions in 1994 compared to previous years is also presented. The report provides the scientific basis of the conclusions on the status of the stocks for 1995 and provides a technical record of the discussions"--Summary, page vi.
