"In 1985, the Pacific Salmon Treaty committed the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans to halt the decline in abundance of chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) stocks. The Harrison River was designated a chinook indicator stock, and escapement has been monitored annually since 1984. In 1994, the Harrison River chinook escapement was estimated, using the Petersen mark-recapture method, at 98,344 adults. The sex composition of the escapement was 44% female and 56% male. The age composition of the escapement was 3.8% age 3₁, 92.3% age 4₁, 3.3% age 5₁, 0.5% age 6₁ and 0.1 % age 5₂"--Abstract, page viii.
