"The Sector-Based Producer Price Indexes (SBPPIs) bring together existing Statistics Canada price indexes into four quarterly measures: goods, services, energy and non-energy. The methodology used to construct the SBPPIs was developed by the Bank of Canada with input from Statistics Canada. The indexes are intended to support research on firms’ price-setting behaviour and inflation dynamics, including the development and use of economic models... This document describes what the indexes measure and how they support analysis in Prima—the Bank’s macroeconomic model. The Appendix explains industry coverage, source data, weighting, aggregation, imputation, revisions and limitations"--Overview, page 1.
