Hydrothermal alteration of fractured Carboniferous sedimentary rocks along the Cobequid Fault Zone, western Nova Scotia / G. Pe-Piper ... [et al.]. : M183-2/8102E-PDF

"The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the distribution of hydrothermal REE phases and other minerals along the Cobequid Fault, from Lynn Road in the east to the West Advocate section in the west. The focus is on mineralised veins in the deformed sedimentary sequences of the Horton Group. In particular we will address the following questions: a) What is the distribution of hydrothermal mineral precipitation throughout the sedimentary rocks of the CFZ? Do the hydrothermal minerals occur exclusively in fractures? b) What is the relative timing of the precipitation of the various mineral assemblages in relation to other mineral assemblages and to other geological events that have affected the area? c) How do the hydrothermal mineral assemblages found in the fractures of the Carboniferous sedimentary rocks differ from those seen in the fractures of the adjacent plutons? d) What is the ultimate source of both REEs and other elements seen in the overall spectrum of hydrothermal minerals in western Cobequid Highlands?"--Intro., p. 2.
