Target tracking by image subtraction / by J. F. Boulter. : DR52-9/4-1982E-PDF
"Targets moving against a stationary background can be enhanced and tracked by subtracting images of the scene obtained at different times. We examine by digital simulation the conditions required for such a system to give adequate tracking performance, and we give examples of the automatic tracking of an APC target in a visible-light cinefilm and of tank and APC targets in a sequence of FLIR images. We propose a possible hardware implementation of a system based on image subtraction for tracking multiple targets in real time in television-line scan imagery. (U)"--abstract (page i).
