"The task group was created to assess electronic data reporting as one means of reducing and better managing the increased respondent burden caused by PIPES—the Project to Improve Provincial Economic Statistics. In addition, the interest in electronic reporting has increased considerably at Statistics Canada, driven by technological advancements, the success of Statistics Canada pilots in electronic reporting and, most notably, by businesses' request for electronic reporting"--p. 3.
