The evaluation of historic buildings / Harold Kalman.: R64-98/1979E-PDF

“This booklet describes a simple and practical method of evaluating buildings. Its primary purpose is to help those people who must evaluate buildings to determine which buildings in their communities are the most significant and deserve conservation, and why they are so. It is intended to take some of the mystique out of architectural value judgments, and to show that these may be made rationally, objectively and confidently. This booklet has been written for all people involved in some aspect of conservation, whether they be private citizens, professional planners, or government officials. For simplicity the booklet refers only to individual buildings and not to historic areas, but the same principles and techniques may be applied without change to groups of buildings or to entire districts"--Introd., p. 6.
