"This report summarizes the status of the Neighbourhood Improvement Program in Canada to December 31, 1978. It is intended to provide the progress of the program during four years of operation. The major focus is to identify the financial commitments, describe the characteristics of municipalities and NIP areas, review the status of activities in all NIP areas and describe the key program trends and potential program impacts. The information for the Trends report has been compiled from the monitoring data gathered by the Neighbourhood and Residential Improvement Division and NIP Evaluation Report. A review of the status of NIP areas with local office participation and federal commitments and loans confirmed by regional offices are incorporated in the report"--Introduction, page 1.
