This study included several facets: development of analytical methods to detect PPCPS in wastewater and sludge; surveys of PPCPS in treatment plant influents, effluents, and sludges; comparison of conventional activated sludge (CAS) and innovative wastewater treatment processes for PPCP removal from wastewater; and controlled bench-scale studies.
