"The Special Committee on Indian Self-Government is the first committee of Parliament which has ever been convened with all party support from the House of Commons to study and recommend better ways of establishing a relationship among Indian peoples and between Indian people and the Crown. It is also the first time a Parliamentary committee has included an ex-officio member from the Assembly of First Nations as well as two native liaison members; one from the Native Women's Association of Canada and the other from the Native Council of Canada"--p.
