Consumer market data, 1941 .: CS63-503/1945E-PDF

"Recognizing the need for accurate and comprehensive figures on domestic markets, the Bureau issued its first Consumer Market Data handbook in 1940. This bulletin presented under one cover fifty-six series of marketing facts by provinces, counties (census divisions in the tour western provinces) and incorporated places of 2,000 or more people, most of the material being assembled from data obtained from the Census of Population for 1931 and the Census of Merchandising Establishments for 1930. A second handbook issued in 1943 presented a less extensive and preliminary series of market statistics on population, retail stores and sales for 1941 by provinces, counties or census divisions and incorporated places of 5,000 population and over. The cordial reception of both bulletins by the business community has further emphasized the need for accurate information upon regional and local markets. The present revised and expanded handbook of marketing facts has been prepared in response to this need, As in the case of the first bulletin, detailed statistics are shown by provinces, counties or census divisions and incorporated places with 2,000 or more people."--Introduction.
