Mortality by detailed cause of death, 1950-55 / Dominion Bureau of Statistics, Health and Welfare Division, Vital Statistics Section.: CS84-502/1956E-PDF
"As a member nation of the World Health Organization since its inception, Canada has always subscribed to the use of current versions of standard international lists of causes of death for the portrayal of Canadian mortality. Thus all deaths occurring in Canada since January 1, 1950, have been codified and tabulated according to the Detailed List of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases, Injuries and Causes of Death. However, in recognition of the undoubted, though limited, need for knowledge of the frequency with which specific disease entities are recorded as causes of death the present report shows in summary form the numbers of deaths for Canada as a whole attributed to each category of the Detailed List during each of the years 1950 to 1955"--Introd.
