"The Parties to the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement-in-Principle (AIP) include the Labrador Inuit Association, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador (Newfoundland), and the Government of Canada (Canada). The Parties acknowledge that the Inuit of Labrador claim Aboriginal rights, including title, in and to the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Area based on their traditional and current use and occupancy of the lands, waters and landfast sea ice of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims area, that the Labrador Inuit are an Aboriginal people of Canada, that the Constitution Act, 1982 recognizes existing Aboriginal rights, and that the Parties have never before entered into a land claims agreement"--Preamble, p.
