"A Drug Identification Number (DIN) serves as an identifier of a drug and its associated characteristics. The assignment of a DIN indicates that a drug has undergone a successful Health Canada review process and is currently authorized for sale in Canada. The purpose of this guidance document is to provide assistance in interpreting sections C.01.014.6 and C.01.014.7 of the Regulations for the cancellation of a DIN and the notification to Health Canada of the discontinuation of the sale of a drug"--P. 7.
