"On June 17, 2016, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make related amendments to other Acts (medical assistance in dying), which permits the lawful provision of medical assistance in dying to eligible Canadians, received Royal Assent. Since then, the federal government has been working closely with provinces and territories to support its implementation"--Introduction, p. 1.
