"The physical and chemical analyses of samples of coals from mining operations in the three coal mining provinces of western Canada, Saskatchewan Alberta, and British Columbia, are reported. They include lignite, subbituminous and bituminous coals. In addition, the chemical analyses of ash of most of the same coals are reported in a separate section. The samples were taken and analyzed by the Energy Research Laboratories during the year 1975. They represent the production, on a specified day, of the coals as commercially prepared at the mine"--Abstract, p. i.
