“The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade (the committee) held two meetings, on February 21 2019 and February 27 2019, to consider the latest developments in Venezuela’s political, economic, and humanitarian crisis. The purpose of the meetings was to keep committee members apprised of significant recent developments in the country and the region, and to build on two reports the committee tabled on Venezuela in June 2016 and July 2017. Witnesses included senior officials from Global Affairs Canada, Canada’s former ambassador to Venezuela, and academics"--Introduction, page 7.
