"The Sediment Survey Section of the Applied Hydrology Division, Department of the Environment, have developed a hydrographic survey system (Hydac 100) (Wiebe 1972), for conducting surveys of reservoirs and river estuaries. The system obtains bed profiles using echo sounders on a rapidly moving boat the horizontal control of which is maintained with telemetric units on shore"--Introduction, page 1.
