« Le texte modifie le Code criminel afin : a) de définir le terme « bestialité »; b) d’élargir la portée de l’infraction consistant à encourager le combat ou le harcèlement d’animaux ou d’oiseaux ou à y prêter son concours : (i) pour y inclure la promotion, l’organisation, la participation ou la réception d’argent relativement au combat ou au harcèlement d’animaux ou d’oiseaux, (ii) pour que soient aussi visés par l’infraction le dressage, le transport et l’élevage d’animaux ou d’oiseaux à des fins de combat ou de harcèlement de ceux-ci; c) d’élargir la portée de l’infraction consistant à construire, à fabriquer, à entretenir ou à garder une arène pour les combats de coqs pour viser toute arène pour les combats d’animaux » -- Sommaire, page ii.
