Time series models of sediment lead concentration and load in the Niagara River at Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake 1986-1992 / J.R. Elliott, A.H. El-Shaarawi.En13-5/94-71E-PDF

"The report focuses on the development of statistical methodologies for estimating the load of a chemical that is input to and output from a river. The motivation is to provide a protocol to enable Canada to assess progress towards the achievement of the 50% reduction in contaminant loadings to the Niagara River by 1996. To illustrate the techniques, regression models with autoregressive error processes were fitted to sediment lead concentrations and loads measured at the upstream (Fort Erie) and downstream (Niagara-on-the-Lake) monitoring stations from 1986 to 1992. Inputs at FE were linked to outputs at NOTL with dynamic regression models"--Management perspective.
