By-catches in five Grand Bank groundfish fisheries / by W.B. Brodie.: Fs70-8/81-68E-PDF
"A linear programming technique was used to analyse the ratios of by-catch species to main species I five directed groundfish fisheries in NAFO div. 3L, 3N, and 3O. Operating within allowable catch levels for 1981, the analysis provided the directed catch as well as the total catch for each species, based on yearly fishing patterns over the period 1976-79. the results showed that although the predicted directed catches for each species in 1981 varied considerably with each of the four fishing patterns, the total catch permitted for each species would be taken regardless of the fishing pattern used"--Abstract.
