"Principally as a result of tagging studies, it has been concluded that there is overwintering migration of herring from S. W. Nova Scotia to the Chedabucto Bay area. For management purposes, the catches in the two areas are considered to belong to a unit stock. Thus, herring caught by all gear types in ICNAF statistical areas 465 and 466 within 4Xa, and by the purse seine fleet only in area 451 of 4Wa, have been included in the 4WX assessment (fig. 1)"--Introduction.
