"The Environmental Protection Service conducted a monitoring program in October, 1985 to determine whether the relocation of the groundwater collection system at Westmin had resulted in improvement in Myra Creek water quality. Very high heavy metal concentrations were found in the creek during a high rainfall period (October 22 to October 24, 1985). Seepages from the tailings line road, built with waste rock, were characterized and recognized as a major contributor to the heavy metal loading in Myra Creek"--Abstract, page i.
