"The rapid development of transportation facilities in the north necessitates a knowledge of special circumstances presented by the occurrence of permafrost. In this report the results of a study undertaken by the Department of the Environment (Canadian Forestry Service) in co-operation with Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (Geological Survey of Canada) supported by the Department of Agriculture(Soil Research Institute) in the northern part of the Mackenzie Valley and northern Yukon are described"--Summary.
