Interpolation of complex-valued response amplitude operators : approaches and effects / Eric Thornhill.: D68-2/193-2019E-PDF
"Response amplitude operator (RAO) data sets are used in many applications, such as for calculating root mean square (RMS) ship motions in arbitrary sea conditions. In the process of performing these calculations, there can be cases where the complex-numbers of a RAO data set must be interpolated. This report presents the results of a study examining different approaches to interpolating complex RAO data, such as using its real & imaginary parts, or by using its magnitudes & phase angles. Performing interpolation at different steps within a calculation procedure for RMS motions is also examined to evaluate the effects on output"--Abstract, page i.
