"The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community. CSC acknowledges its obligations as an employer under the Employment Equity Act and as such is committed to creating a workplace that is inclusive and barrier-free for all, including employees and candidates for employment. CSC aims to achieve equity in the workplace so that no person shall be denied employment opportunities or benefits for reasons unrelated to ability and, in the fulfilment of that goal, to correct the conditions of disadvantage in employment experienced by women"--Executive summary, page 6.
