Audit of the implementation of Jordan's principle / prepared by: Audit and Assurance Services Branch.: R122-7/2019E-PDF
"Jordan’s Principle began in 2007 as a parliamentary response to the death of Jordan River Anderson. Jordan passed away before being released from the hospital due to jurisdictional disputes within and between the federal and provincial governments over who would pay the costs for his in-home care. The Principle is a legal requirement; it is not a policy or program. It is a child-first initiative that calls for services to be delivered to First Nations children in their home communities and for government of first contact to ensure First Nations children can have equitable access to publicly funded services"--Executive summary, page 1.
