"Jordan’s Principle began in 2007 as a parliamentary response to the death of Jordan River Anderson. Jordan passed away before being released from the hospital due to jurisdictional disputes within and between the federal and provincial governments over who would pay the costs for his in-home care. The Principle is a legal requirement; it is not a policy or program.
