Canadian vessel plan approval and inspection standard.T86-65/2022E-PDF

"The objective of this standard is to provide instructions and guidance for inspections of vessels subject to the Vessel Safety Certificates Regulations under the authority of the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 (CSA 2001). The CSA 2001, Section 211 empowers Marine Safety Inspectors (MSI) and Recognized Organizations (RO) to inspect at any reasonable time. This document does not supersede the inspection powers designated to the Inspector. Inspection intervals can be given effect by setting the period of validity of the Canadian Maritime Documents (CMDs), which require inspections for their renewal: Paragraph 16(2) (c) of CSA 2001. If there is a need to inspect a vessel that is outside of Canada even though none of the vessel's certificates need renewal, the vessel may have to be made available for inspections at certain intervals"--Introduction, page 1.
