Nanaimo River summer chinook salmon rebuilding workshop summary / West Coast Aquatic.: Fs97-17/66E-PDF
"This report documents the proceedings of a workshop held on March 12-13, 2025, in Nanaimo, British Columbia for members of organizations involved in developing a rebuilding plan for Nanaimo River Summer Chinook Salmon. The goal of the workshop was to generate ideas that can be used to draft objectives for and determine suggested actions for the rebuilding plan. Participants began the workshop with presentations about the rebuilding planning project, the summer-run Chinook salmon population itself, habitat restoration, stock assessment research, environmental flow management, and restoration planning. Following this information, participants joined breakout discussions to brainstorm content for drafting objectives and actions. They also generated considerations and identified outstanding questions. Together, this information comprises content that, in tandem with work from Fisheries and Oceans Canada on stock assessment and restoration planning, can be used to construct a rebuilding plan for Nanaimo River Summer Chinook salmon"--Abstract, page iv.
