The Nova Scotia population of Blanding's Turtle is at particular risk. In 1993, the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) designated this population as 'threatened'... The goal of this Recovery Plan is to establish a self-sustaining population of Blanding's Turtle both in protected areas (Kejimkujik National Park) and outside the park within the specie's historical range in Nova Scotia, thereby enabling COSEWIC to consider downlisting or delisting this population from the list of threatened species.--Page 4
