The primary objective of this study was to compare chemistry and toxicity of background samples (seawater only), pre-burn samples (seawater and unburned oil), and post-burn samples (seawater and burned oil). Testing of the field-burn samples also included analysis of two additional samples collected during the early and late stages of the burn. An additional objective was to evaluate the burn residue after combustion.--Abstract
