Non-domestic substances list: registry number index : Extract [from] Canada gazette, part I, January 26, 1991 : En40-398/1991
Extract Canada Gazette, Part I January 26, 1991. The Non-domestic Substances List (NDSL) specifies substances, other than those on the DSL (Domestic Substances List), that are in world commerce but not in Canada. The NDSL is based on the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 1985 inventory of commercial substances compiled for the "Toxic Substances Control Act" (TSCA). The TSCA inventory, therefore, serves as a surrogate for substances in world commerce during the 1984-1986 period specified for the compilation of the DSL. Substances that are not on the DSL will require notification and assessment before they can be manufactured in or imported into Canada. The notification information required from importers and manufacturers is prescribed in the "New Substances Notification Regulations" and includes physical, chemical and toxicological data on the substances. Substances on the NSDL, however, have less onerous notification requirements than other new substances. 2 volumes.
