The Data Dictionary was created to describe data fields and standards in use by provincial and federal archaeological heritage agencies, across Canada and to provide a guide to those museums, heritage agencies and organizations contributing data to the Archaeological Sites National Database. However, it may also serve those implementing or refining an information management system for archaeological sites. It may be used by any organization to structure a microcomputer system compatible with CHIN with a view to a future liaison, or to structure and format data in such a way that any exchange of information becomes practicable.--Introduction
