Canada... the place to be: annual Immigration Plan for the year 2000  : Ci1-2000

The Year 2000 Immigration Plan provides an estimate of the total number of immigrants and refugees who will be admitted to Canada. This publication describes the reciprocal benefits of immigration to Canada and to its incoming immigrants. It explains the various categories of immigrant and refugee and the acceptable ranges established within each category for entrance into Canada. Beyond the numbers, it provides a picture of balancing Canada's need for skilled labour with its consideration of humanitarian needs, and family reunification. Tables give figures for: immigration levels for Canada, Quebec and the provinces (2000); projected arrivals 1999; refugees and immigration from 1996-1998, by category, source country, province, metropolitan area, and by type of employment, foreign students' level of study, and visitor visas
