Managing Canada's Marine Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Regime : T31-130/2006

This booklet explains Transport Canada’s role in preventing oil spills in Canada’s waters and in preparing for spills should they occur. It describes the Canadian regime, which is built on partnerships and cooperation among Canadian regions, with other nations, and with industry. The booklet provides an overview of the regulatory framework and notes that clean-up costs are compensated based on the polluter pay principle, with additional funding from national and international funds.
