This report assesses legislative amendments proposed by the Ethical Trading Action Group requiring disclosure of the addresses of manufacturing sites on labels of clothing sold in Canada. It outlines stakeholder discussions on the issue, as well as initiatives that support better working conditions in the apparel industry. It then looks at decision-making criteria and the optimal policy mix. Appendices include resources on fair labour, a historical look at working conditions in this industry, and further information on certain initiatives.
