Environmental leaders 2 : ARET voluntary action on toxic substances : update. : En40-492/1997E-PDF

ARET (Accelerated Reduction/Elimination of Toxics) is a voluntary, non-regulatory initiative, launched in 1994, that targets 117 toxic substances including 30 that persist in the environment and bioaccumulate in living organisms. ARET seeks to reduce the adverse impact of toxic substances on human health and the environment as quickly as possible through the accelerated reduction or elimination of emissions of selected toxic substances. To achieve this participants are asked to develop action plans to achieve significant results by the year 2000. The first ARET report, Environmental Leaders 1 (EL1), was issued in March 1995 and the second report, Environmental Leaders 2 (EL2) was released in January 1997. This document is an update to EL2 and provides emission reduction data from all 1996 ARET participants. It has been designed to work in conjunction with EL2.
