Illiteracy and school attendance in Canada : a study of the census of 1921 with supplementary data. : CS98-1921M-2E-PDF

"The present report is an analysis of the results of the 1921 Census of Canada relating to illiteracy and school attendance. A series of three questions under the general heading "Education" were included in the Census, namely: (1) Can you read? (2) Can you write? and (3) Months at School since September 1, 1920 the census being taken as of date June 1, 1921. The statistical tables compiled from these questions have been previously issued in separate census bulletins, Bulletin No. 17 dealing with School Attendance and Bulletin No. 18 with Literacy. The statistics have also been included in further elaboration in Volume II of the Census Report. The present report is a descriptive examination and interpretation of these statistics"--Preface.
